About this work

Dear Future Ancestors is an interactive digital artwork exploring Yoruba cultural memory, diasporic identity, and emerging technology. Beginning with a custom AI model trained on African masquerade imagery, the project expands into a playable Three.js world where users guide Àmógé, a digitally sculpted future ancestor, through ritual encounters, speculative landscapes, and a reconstructed sacred grove informed by LiDAR scans of Osun-Osogbo. Through AI, motion tracking, 3D environments, and archival material, the work asks how inherited cultural forms might be preserved, transformed, and reimagined as they move through contemporary technological systems.
